New England Moral Reform Society is established.

[1835-O’Connor] Originally the Boston Female Moral Reform Society, its purpose is “the prevention of licentiousness.” It establishes a maternity home and hospital for unwed mothers in Jamaica Plain in 1869.* Dr. Caroline Hastings becomes the hospital’s first attending physician in 1871. The name is changed to the Hastings Home in 1948. It merges with the Crittenton Home in 1961.*
